Description

Sinorhizobium medicae WSM419, originally known as Rhizobium meliloti WSM419, is an acid-tolerant strain originally isolated from acidic soil in Sardinia. It is a motile, non-spore-forming, rod-shaped bacteria. It nodulates Medicago spp., is used to inoculate these plants commercially, and is thus studied for its acid-tolerance. It was placed in a new taxon based on phenotypic and phylogenetic studies of the 16S gene. It has one chromosome and three plasmids. (EBI Integr8)
