Description

Alicyclobacillus acidocaldarius subsp. acidocaldarius (strain ATCC 27009 / DSM 446 / 104-1A) is an aerobic, acidophilic and thermophilic Gram-positive bacterium, originally isolated from an acid hot spring in Yellowstone National Park, USA. It produces heat and acid stable enzymes, such as amylase and esterase, which may be important in industry. The optimum temperature for growth is 60 degrees Celsius, and the optimum pH is between 3 and 4.
