Description

Persephonella marina (strain DSM 14350 / EX-H1) is a chemolithotrophic, thermophilic hydrogen-oxidizing bacterium isolated from a deep sea hydrothermal vent on the East Pacific Rise. P. marina has one chromosome and one megaplasmid. It is able to fix CO2 using the A-type reductive tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle. P. marina possesses genes to catalyze the oxidation of sulfide to elemental sulfur and is an autotrophic nitrate reducer. (EBI Integr8)
