Description

Methanothermobacter marburgensis (strain DSM 2133 / 14651 / NBRC 100331 / OCM 82 / Marburg) is a thermophilic methanogenic archaeon isolated in 1978 from anaerobic sewage sludge in Marburg, Germany. It possesses approximately 200 CDS required for the synthesis of the enzymes, coenzymes and prosthetic groups involved in CO2 reduction to methane and in coupling of this process with energy conservation.
